In this collaborative series with photographer and filmmaker Liliane Laborde-Edozien, we express ourselves through the sacred waters of indigo. Rooted in the practices of our respective homelands, India and Nigeria, indigo is more than a colour, it’s more than a dye. In Yoruba cosmology, indigo is the domain of women where the ritual and wisdom are passed from hand to hand. In India, where its name comes from, the blue dye carries stories of craft, reaching back generations.

By working with traditional dyeing techniques, and as women, we honor these inheritances. Together, we create images that are meditations on our ancestral lines, womanhood, sisterhood, spirituality, and craft.
